Is the President worth it?

Is it worth it to the country to impeach a president when he is clearly guilty of felony behavior on issues from national security, to emoluments, to tax evasion? Do we say no this time and then pursue the next guy? Do American leaders tell us that major criminal behavior does not matter if you gain the highest office? What do we say to all of those facing legal jeopardy or risking their lives to enforcing our laws when it is obvious that the law does not apply to all? When does the specter of moral and legal system decay become too much for citizens and leadership to ignore?

What does the term liar mean?

When is a liar made? Is a person forever a liar after misspeaking once? Does lying or misstating to the same person, or group twice make you a liar? If you lie to a group of people thousands of times make you a liar? I guess it is in the eye of the beholder. I think we all recognize what we would call a liar when we see the behavior. I believe when you disbelieve or doubt a person due to prior experience then you are dealing with a liar. But can’t a liar tell the truth,or be on the side of truth based on experience also?

United States of America Cabinet Officers

When are you not qualified to be a member of the cabinet of the President of the United States of America? If you make an illegal deal not to prosecute a child rapist are you not qualified to serve the American people? Or does it not matter if you excuse the rape of dozens of American teenage girls? Do we have no standards of decency for the President of the United States or the people he puts in charge of our federal agencies? When do people who say they have morals become outraged? Is outrage by the people who say they have morals a thing of the past? The American people must speak loudly.

A Pathetic President

What is a pathetic President? Is a pathetic president one whose word is meaningless because he lies all the time about everything and anything? Is a pathetic president one who does not believe the people that they have appointed to give advice? Is a pathetic president one who runs up debt for future generations to pay without good reason or explanation? Is a pathetic president one who destroys and threatens democratic institutions to preserve their twisted self-image which itself is based on lies? Is a pathetic president one who drives allies to express concern about the trustworthiness of the United States of America? Is a pathetic president all of the above?

A Great President

Abraham Lincoln was a great president because of his intelligence, his growth, and his actions. President Lincoln freed a lot of people. Lincoln freed African-Americans held in bondage by those who wanted to be paid for their labor while abusing them. Lincoln was a man of his time who did not feel the African-Americans could live among whites, but he grew as a person and a leader. Lincoln helped to free many whites through education with Land-Grant universities helping to create a broad middle-class. These are just a few reasons to cite Abraham Lincoln as a great president.

The importance of expressing love

We live in a world where people seem very comfortable with hatred and intolerance for others. It seems like the poisonous logic of bigotry is on the rise around the planet sometimes. It is more important than ever for all of us to balance ourselves with expressions of love, selflessness, and courtesy. The truth is that our species owes it’s success to people working together. All of our major religions ask that we show love and respect for others. This Valentines Day lets use our love, empathy, and resources to move our society towards more balance and beauty.

Is America a great country because it is hard to build walls?

Today we are witnessing a President fighting hard to build a wall. Does the fact that the President have to fight so hard in his effort to build a wall mean that we are a thoughtful country? Many question what a wall would do, what it would represent, and ho much it would cost. Our republic with it’s passionate and engaged citizens is a case study for the world. I believe we make mistakes, but also show that we develop some of the best solutions to the challenges of human civilization.

Leadership starts with us

We live in a time where people are stepping up to identify those who are unworthy of trust due to previous misdeeds. I appreciate the freedom hat we have in our country to stand up and speak truth to power. Thank goodness that there are fewer and fewer taboo subjects where people are supposed to feel too ashamed to speak up. I hope that the press and social media continue to be tools of accountability, and justice as we strive for a more perfect union.

Odd moment

When the president stated that the legislative branch could not investigate him if they wanted to maintain prosperity and a functioning government (I paraphrase); he shared a frightening thought. Is the president above the law, or was he just being hyperbolic? There is never a dull day with him in office if you follow politics. I hope his mindset does not spread. We have a governor who one day apologized for being in a photograph with racist issues (klu klux klan person next to one in blackface), and the next day said it was not him. It is important for politicians to respect the voters and our constitutional system of government. As voters we must stay vigilant and demand that the truth is the cornerstone of our institutions and debates over policy.

Wild weather swings

Many people have noticed the massive weather changes that struck Cities in the USA this week. One city saw a temperature change of over 90 degrees in a span of 2 days. I am sure that many people were pleased that temperatures warmed dramatically from sub zero levels, but what crops, pests, plants and animals? Major climate change is happening in front of our eyes. We must all do everything we can to socially, politically, and personally to limit the impact of climate disruption caused by human actions.
