Europeans had year-round tans back in the day

Scientists are coming to believe that people in Europe had dark skins until less than 3,000 years ago according to this article from New Scientist. DNA suggests that all humans have common ancestry that began in Africa, but of course we continue to suffer with racism. Many believe racism is the reason for the current Trump presidency and the chaos that goes with it. The narratives that we believe can be incredibly destructive. Research, learn, and act to save our republic and human civilization. Climate change is real and is not waiting for us to pull our heads out of the sand.

We are not getting ready for the future

In America we have a new president and congress, but they don’t talk about the future, they talk about the past. Scientists have told us for decades the climate is changing but we not planning to act on the information. The new republican politicians want to fight and deny science. The insurance and real estate markets won’t let republicans get away with bull jive. Check out this video for your edification.

Drill baby Drill?

After listening to President elect Trump say his focus is “drill baby drill” yesterday, and watching parts of LA burn today (due to climate change driven weather); I have to wonder: Are we screwed? Adding more CO2 to the atmosphere will only make our planet uninhabitable for humans. I am a student of history and I know that poor leadership results in the failure of societies. The climate crisis has an expiration date when it turns into an extinction crisis. Humanity must realize that we will have to turn to each other and not on each other to survive, but that does not appear to be what we are doing. The destructive events keep coming and getting worse. We are all responsible for making the world around us better; not being selfish and drifting to destruction. Some researchers say we are heading towards a murder off and then a die off as we selfishly seek comfort and power while failing to make changes. Research and act as if survival depended on your actions. There is hope for the future but it will not place itself in our hands. We will have to work, and act, to turn hope into a mighty river of reality.

Thinking between the lines

I am increasingly noticing people who mention a lack of trust in institutions and “leaders” both institutional and elected. As many sources of information that I trust say that we should be deeply concerned; I remain hopeful. I believe in the greatness of humanity and our creator. I believe at least a part of humanity will survive potentially apocalyptic upcoming events, maybe a majority. If you hear people spreading or voicing conspiracy theories; be honest. Every human being should help spread truth and reality within our species: it is the best hope for survival.

The hits will just keep coming

The upcoming Trump administration will hopefully get a clue on climate, but right now America is slipping into second tier status. The attached Atlantic article tells a story of massive ignorance and lack of vision on Trump’s part. Hopefully there can be tremendous change, but if he continues to deny the climate crisis; continued economic, and international decline awaits.
